Blake Griffin, Robert Downey Jr and Cargill have joined too.
Wildtype, San Francisco-based cell-cultured salmon producer, recently closed a €88 million ($100M) Series B round of investment. Personalities such as Leonardo DiCaprio, Robert Downey Jr., Jeff Bezos and Blake Griffin wanted to be part of this agreement.
This was ratified by L Catterton. Also, has been supported by Expeditions, Temasek, S2G Ventures Oceans and Seafood Fund, Robert Downey Jr.’s FootPrint Coalition, Cargill, and prominent chefs from around the world. Existing investors, including Spark Capital, CRV, Maven, AiiM, and Root Ventures, also continued their support for Wildtype.
Contributions come from environmental activists, scientists, health proponents, acclaimed artists, professional athletes, and institutional investors. This looks for building a larger production facility, and investing in technologies that will improve production and lower the cost to their customers.
“Wild fish populations are threatened more than ever before. Wildtype is the clear leader in cultivated seafood, which will give us the chance to protect our oceans while creating the cleanest seafood on the planet. Wildtype will surely transform our food system with its incredible salmon”, actor Leonardo DiCaprio stated.
