The Global Seafood Alliance (GSA) announced that Michael Berto, an executive at Walmart US, has been appointed as a new member of its Board of Directors. His addition brings to seven the number of new members that the nonprofit organization has added to its Board of Directors over the past three years.
“We’re delighted that Michael has agreed to join our board of directors”, said GSA CEO, Brian Perkins. “Michael brings a lot of experience in retail protein, and Walmart has been a longtime supporter of our nonprofit organization and our Best Aquaculture Practices certification program. His contributions to the board will be invaluable”, he added.
Berto has been with Walmart for more than six years, where he has held various roles in the meat department, managing several protein categories. As said, he is currently the merchandising director for frozen seafood at Walmart US. The new member of the GSA Board of Directors is a graduate of Texas A&M University with degrees in animal science and meat science.
