Atlantic Sapphire has received $33 million (DKK 180 million) in insurance settlement for the fire that occurred in the company’s plant in Denmark on September 15th, 2021. According to the company, this will serve its US operations and construction. Also, it will continue to review the company’s strategy for Danish operations.
Through a statement, Atlantic Sapphire confirmed it has now ensured stable operations in the US. Besides, the company is in the middle of a “significant expansion” of the production capacity.
In addition, it mentioned the US is currently importing approximately 98% of its consumption of Atlantic salmon. Finally, it added there will be an increasing focus and preference for domestically produced food in the years ahead.
