Bente E. Torstensen (52) has been appointed as the new CEO of the research institute Nofima, when Øyvind Fylling-Jensen retires this summer.
“In the search for the best candidate, it has been important for us to take our time. We received many highly skilled and well-qualified applicants, which shows that Nofima is a highly recognized research institute. In the appointment process, the board has been heavily involved, interviewed many candidates and we are confident that we have landed on the best candidate for Nofima,” says board chairman Thomas Farstad.
“Bente has a solid research background. She also has solid management experience and she has good contact with and understanding of the industry’s needs.”

My goal is to further develop Nofima as one of the world’s most recognized research institutes for sustainable food systems,” says Bente Torstensen.
Bente Torstensen has worked at Nofima since August 2017 as the division director for Aquaculture. Prior to that, she worked at Marin Harvest (now Mowi) and Nifes. At Nifes, she worked as a researcher, senior researcher, research manager and research director. She has a doctorate in nutritional biology from the University of Bergen. She has also been post-educated at Harvard Business School in Boston (Executive Education).
