Through the World Central Kitchen
The Seafood for Heroes program, managed through the Napa Seafood Foundation, is centralizing donations from seafood companies to provide healthy meals in Ukraine. The meals reach the affected through Chef José Andrés, World Central Kitchen.
The program was formed in response of the COVID-19 pandemic. This way, seafood companies participated with the foundation to give back to first-responders and healthcare workers on the front lines. The aim was to provide seafood meals for frontline workers. These workers often work long hours in difficult conditions.
Now, the group has focused on the Ukraine war. Through the dozens of seafood companies, the Seafood for Heroes program “is using the resources the industry already has available to help those in need quickly” The Food Group CEO Mark Cotter, said.
World Central Kitchen (WCK) was founded in 2010 by Chef José Andrés. They provide meals in response to humanitarian, climate, and community crises while working to build resilient food systems with locally-led solutions. Therefore, WCK has served more than 60 million fresh meals to people impacted by natural disasters and other crises around the world.
